Remembering the Past
Building the Future

In 1999 a group of land and business owners from the vicinity of Handley Drive and East Lancaster Avenue gathered together with plans to revitalize the Handley Community and Business District. They formed The Historic Handley Development Corporation, a charitable non-profit organization within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The charitable and educational activities of The Historic Handley Development Corporation are intended to foster, encourage, and promote the civic and economic growth and development of the Handley area of East Side Fort Worth, Tarrant County and the State of Texas and to preserve, protect, and enhance the historic structures and heritage of the area.

All funds are applied to our efforts to realize our goals through the use of civic, educational and informative programs provided and sponsored by the corporation; by building partnerships among residents, government and private sector officials to address critical issues in the revitalization of the Handley area; and by encouraging and enabling the preservation of existing structures and the construction of new architecturally and historically compatible structures.

The Historic Handley Development Corporation consists entirely of volunteers. Funds are generated through generous contributions and proceeds from events such as the Annual Handley Street Festival and Car Show. All monies are reinvested into the Historic Handley Community, a designated Urban Village. We are currently focusing our efforts towards the development of The Historic Handley Railroad Museum.
